Mapale “Gio” Itoewaki, born in 1996, is the coordinator of our MultiMedia Team and the voice of the Wayana Radio Podcast. He has a deep rooted passion for music. This, coupled with his experience in photography, makes him a great asset for the Mulokot Team.

Aldo embarked on his academic journey at the Universidad de Oriente, where he pursued studies at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering. While he did not complete his formal education, the time spent at the university proved to be an invaluable and instructive experience. During this period, Aldo delved into various practical skills, including welding, sheet metal work, painting, upholstery, and bricklaying. This hands-on approach to learning not only broadened his skill set but also instilled in him a deep appreciation for craftsmanship.

Rafael is a driven young man who is the current senior project manager at Mulokot Foundation. His journey at our organization started in January 2022. Since then, Rafael has been a valuable asset to us. He is tasked with writing and overseeing the execution of projects. Additionally, he also assists the managing director and chairperson of Mulokot. He describes himself as a creative problem solver, thus he is the go-to person for innovative ideas.

Originally from the Netherlands, Andre Verhoogt has been an integral part of the Mulokot Foundation since its inception in 2018, serving as the dedicated Managing Director. Andre’s connection with the Wayana Indigenous community dates back to 2006 when he first encountered their culture—a meeting that left an indelible mark on his heart. Armed with a background in Organizational Behavior and Change Management, Andre brings a wealth of expertise to his role. His passion, easy-going nature, and commitment to the well-being of Indigenous peoples define his approach to his work at Mulokot.

Cultural Mulitmedia

Sita (Ikiene) Timpico-Apalakali is born on the 3rd of August 1960 in the Wayana village Kawemhakan and is working with the Mulokot Foundation since 2019. She is part of our Multimedia Team and with her knowledge of The Wayana culture and the old stories an excellent source for the Wayana Radio Podcast. Sita is caring, honest, loyal and a great mother of 6 children and 11 grandchildren. With more than 30 years’ experience as a translator Wayana – Dutch, she has a big network.

Aylin Ivón Díaz Torres was born on the 13th of July 1998 in Havana, Cuba. She is working, since November 2020, as our office manager. Aylin is not Indigenous, but her Husband is a Wayana Indigenous. Together they have a son of 1 year old. Aylin likes to help and support people, is very driven and likes to work with a good planning and deadlines. She is not afraid to take the lead and give people feedback on their work or behavior. Here passion is the theater, as a child she always wanted to become a director in big theater productions.

Dijon Koemapu is born in Apetina and went to school in lelydorp. After 3 years working at the office of Mulokot he went back to petina. In Apetina Dijon is the coordinator of all the projects and he is a very good guide for tourists.
